The
great advantage of MR is that it has few side
effects; it uses magnetic signals to see through
the body instead of radiation such as X-ray.
MR can show details, which cannot be seen with
other imaging techniques. |

Siemens Magnetom Espree is a revolutionary new breed
of open MRI.
MAGNETOM Espree offers, for the first time, CT-like
comfort with true 1.5 Tesla high-field power. So it’s
head out and feet first for most exams.
The Siemens Magnetom Espree is the world’s first
open bore, 1.5 Tesla MRI system, and Turville Bay MRI & Radiation
Oncology Center is the first diagnostic imaging center
in the nation to offer patients the benefit of this
new technology. The Espree has an ultra-short 1.25
m (4’) length and a 70 cm (over 2’3”)
inside diameter, providing a more spacious opening
to accommodate claustrophobic, large, very young, and
elderly patients. Nearly 60% of exams in the Espree
can be performed with the patient’s head outside
of the scanner. Using a new Siemens technology called
TIM (total imaging matrix), scans can be performed
faster with more precise results and no patient repositioning,
resulting in shorter exam times.
The challenge wasn’t
to make a more “open” Open. The challenge
was to retain the performance of a 1.5 Tesla system in a combination with
the most open design possible.
Today’s 1.5 Tesla MRI
technology at Turville Bay delivers high quality
images and diagnostic information quickly and accurately
to the referring physician. Our patient care is excellent
due to Turville Bay’s
dedicated clinical staff."
