Varian TrueBeam Linear Accelerator

The system gives oncologists and multidisciplinary teams the power to manage challenging cancers with unparalleled ease and precision anywhere in the body, including the lung, abdomen, breast, and head and neck. It’s fast, powerful and it seamlessly integrates respiratory gating, imaging and treatment techniques. Developed on a sophisticated, synchronized architecture, the system is innovative, intelligent and intuitive.

Designed with the patient experience in mind, TrueBeam is quieter and provides a more comfortable environment. Enhanced communication technology enables a constant interaction between the patient and the therapist who operates the equipment. Three closed-circuit television systems enable the therapist to monitor the patient at all times. Music can be played during treatment, helping to increase patient comfort.

 

Accuray TomoTherapy HDATomoTherapy in Madison Wisconsin

A complementary technology for cancer treatment, the TomoTherapy HDA treatment system’s linear accelerator (linac) is mounted to a CT scanner-like ring gantry. During treatment delivery, the linear accelerator completes multiple 360-degree rotations around the patient while the treatment couch passes through the center bore of the system. It releases radiation therapy continuously from all angles as it targets tumors with an optimized beamlet-based delivery.

Helical Tomotherapy is particularly suited for cancers in the head and neck, chest and pelvis. It may be beneficial for treating certain gynecological cancers, as well, while avoiding structures like the bowel, bladder and rectum.

 

 

Varian 21EX Linear Accelerator

With the Varian 21EX linear accelerator (LINAC), external beam radiation therapy is delivered using high-energy x-ray and electron beams that are custom shaped to treat the tumor or “target volume” and spare the healthy normal tissue. Our computer-controlled accelerators are equipped with differing energies and devices, making them capable of delivering specialized cancer treatments. Intensity modulated radiotherapy (IMRT), improves upon the precision of treatment. The Varian Clinac® delivers the exact prescribed dose to the patient in the lowest number of monitor units (MUs) possible - without sacrificing efficacy - every time.

Varian Acuity Simulator

Before treatment begins, a team of healthcare providers carries out extensive treatment planning. The Varian Acuity simulator allows the physicians to carefully plan the placement of the beam where they intend to treat using an x-ray to image. High-resolution, interactive 2D and 3D Cone Beam CT (CBCT) imaging techniques integrate with software to support planning, basic simulation, complex treatment verification in one system. The Acuity planning, simulation and verification system is optimized for intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) and image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT). Acuity enables clinicians to effectively prepare and verify the patient treatment plan and help improve treatment efficiency.

The Brilliance CT Big Bore innovation enhances the process of detection, diagnosis and treatment of cancer. Its 85cm aperture bore accommodates scanning patients with immobilization devices in the treatment position. And, it’s Respiratory Correlated Imaging for motion assessment along with tumor localization for isocenter identification and absolute marking by our skilled technologists delivers the merging of imaging clarity we prefer.

 

 
 
 

Philips ADAC Pinnacle Treatment Planning System

The Philips Pinnacle Treatment Planning system is among the most sophisticated planning systems available, with capabilities to create 3D conformal and intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) plans. The treatment-planning system is central to the design of radiation therapy. Using information gathered from MRI, CT and x-ray images, the treatment-planning system creates 3D models of the tumor and anatomy. Decisions about the number, energy, targeting, placement, and shape of radiation beams can be developed in a virtual-reality environment, with different techniques compared. A Dosimetrist prepares a treatment plan and calculates the doses that meet the requirements of the physician’s prescription.
