MEDICAL PHYSICIST - Certified
Turville Bay MRI & Radiation Oncology is seeking a full time highly motivated medical physicist. The successful candidate must have a minimum of an MS in medical physics and be board certified. This position works closely with an experienced board certified medical physicist. In addition to typical medical physics duties such as treatment planning of SRS and SBRT procedures, monthly and annual equipment QA, IMRT patient QA, physics chart checks etc., the position requires working closely with IS to manage the treatment planning system and other medical devices.
Facility & Equipment:
Our facility is staffed by three Physicians, a Chief Physicist, three Dosimetrists, Radiation Oncology Manager, nine therapists, and three nurses. Equipment includes three Varian 21EX linear accelerators with Portal Vision, 120 Millenium mlc and 4D ITC; two accelerators are onsite and one is off-site. Additional equipment includes a Philips Brilliance Big Bore CT, Acuity simulator, Pinnacle RTP, Brain Lab SRS system and IMPAC for Record and Verify. Approximately 20% of the patients are treated with IMRT; there are typically two SRS or SBRT procedures per month. IGRT is presently performed using Varian OBI; the clinic is in the process of VMAT commissioning. We work in a completely paperless environment.
Minimum Qualifications:
- MS in medical physics and board certification;
- Experience with IMRT & 3DCRT planning required;
- Knowledge and experience with calibration of all radiation therapy equipment;
- Experience in Pinnacle SmartArc, SRS, SBRT, and IGRT a plus.

MEDICAL CODER
Turville Bay MRI and Radiation Oncology Center is recruiting for a full-time Medical Coder. The Medical Coder is responsible for assigning applicable codes (ICD-CM, E/M, CPT and HCPCS) and auditing medical record documentation to support accuracy and completeness. The incumbent assists in providing coding education and required documentation criteria to practitioners and staff and participates in job-related projects. This position is responsible for working with the medical billing staff to determine possible coding errors and researching coding guidelines to support insurance claim denials. This position also ensures that assigned codes are in compliance with Medicare, third party payers, other regulatory agencies and Turville Bay Policy.
Job Qualifications include:
- High school graduation or equivalent is required.
- Graduation from an accredited Medical Coding Specialist Program.
- Minimum of one (1) year of medical coding experience is required.
- Radiology/Radiation Oncology Coding experience preferred.
- RHIT or RHIA license or CPC or CPC-P certification required.
- Knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, ICD-CM, E/M and medical record documentation is required.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, basic anatomy, physiology, and disease process is required.
- Knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid rules and regulations is required.
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience interacting with practitioners regarding coding requirements is preferred.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office is required.
- Knowledge of or ability to learn and effectively use systems including electronic medical record and coding systems is required.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
- Excellent customer service skills and the ability to work with a diverse patient population are required.
